What is Maestro UX?
Maestro UX is a cloud-based work management tool that we’ve developed to help you plan and manage your work—simply yet effectively.
Who’s it for?
In short, everyone. You might be part of a small business collaborating among yourselves or connecting with your clients. Or maybe you’ve set up a ‘skunk works’ within a large organisation with the goal of innovating outside of ‘business as usual’. Or you might simply be a student juggling uni assignments.
Whatever your work, we think Maestro will help you reach your goal faster and more reliably.
Where did it come from?
As a management consultancy, Ensemble brings innovations in productivity to the planning and performance of work for tier-one clients. Over the years, we’ve developed some sophisticated work management tools that allow these enterprises to schedule and manage their resources across complex projects. With projects often running into thousands of positions collaborating internationally, it’s tricky stuff. We have to tailor these tools to the specific client and context. Which is why we provide them through our consulting service.
But many of the issues that large organisations face are the same things anyone faces at any level:
What work do I need to do? By when? With what resources? How will I schedule and manage the work?
So we thought: What if we took on board the lessons we’d learned from our large projects, then stripped back the complexity of our enterprise tools to create a lighter product that any team could use? That would democratise the planning and performance of work for everyone.
What can Maestro do?
Maestro allows you to set up work contexts – with organisations, portfolios and projects – and create work cards for yourself and for the people you work with, in teams of as many people as you need. Soon you will also be able to create timesheets and integrate your workflow into popular accounting programs, such as MYOB and Xero.
Our system standardises the way you assign work, making sure you provide context, purpose, desired output, resources required and the due date. Using Maestro, you’ll minimise time spent coordinating with your team — and maximise the time you spend in flow getting the job done.
Is there anything to download?
No. You only need to sign up. It’s all in the cloud.
Is there a mobile version?
Yes, we’ve built complementary apps for iOS and Android.
Why should you try it?
It’s free. It’s useful. It may just change the way you work.
What’s not to like?
Why are we doing this?
Technology is bringing unprecedented disruption across all sectors. New kinds of work and collaboration are needed. We want to help bring focus to whatever it is you do.
Will it break?
This is a beta product, so we’re working on new features all the time. We believe in shipping a minimal viable product for people who are willing to give it a go.
We hope you’ll try it and let us know how you get on.
Why is it called Maestro UX?
We’re called Ensemble because we believe that you get better results when people perform together in pursuit of a common goal. Just like an orchestra. But someone has to conduct and coordinate the work. Hence, our ‘Maestro’. And ‘UX’ because we think the experience of managing work shouldn’t be a chore.
Where’s it heading?
We invite you to co-create it with us. We want to build a community that will test our product in real situations and give us feedback about where we should take it.
Eventually, we see many of our powerful enterprise-level tools becoming part of Maestro. But for now you can think of this as the ‘lite’ version. We hope you’ll take an active part in suggesting new features.
Is it open source?
We’re making Maestro UX API friendly. We hope you’ll be part of a community that will gradually develop more tools for the good of all.
